The opening line of the 2016 LagosPhoto Festival’s Curator’s Statement reads: The act of posing as a repetitive act that constructs an image or images which morph into an idea or identity is an act of courage for both the subject and photographer.
The festival has been running since 2010 with the aim to unite local and international contemporary photographers through images that encapsulate experiences and identities from across the continent. This year’s theme is Rituals and Performance: Inherent Risk.
In a series for Casimir, Logo Oluwamuyiwa asks visitors to the festival to pose for impromptu portraits in front of their favourite pieces.
Logo Oluwamuyiwa is a Nigerian photographer creating an ongoing black and white archive of Lagos at www.monochromelagos.com.
The LagosPhoto Festival runs until the 21st of November 2016.
