Glow In The Dark Cities

Gabriella Achadinha: A Night Of

In the children’s book The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, an anxious owlet discovers the wonders of night time over various chapters: dark is exciting, dark is necessary, dark is beautiful. For a new series she calls A Night Of, Gabriella Achadinha discovers the wonders of the city by night as the buildings transform, glowing in the dark for the few people who make their way through late nights or early mornings. In her photographs, impossibly busy megacities by day become larger than life arcades that are silent and still as the buzz of the daily commute dulls. In them we get a look at another side to Tokyo, Osaka, Okinawa and Seoul, in a state of atmospheric emptiness.
